1958 – Panasonic introduces first Home Cooler
1961 – Home Coolers exported to South Vietnam
1965 – Room Coolers launched
1968 – Development of rotary compressors begins and external sales begin
1971 – Production of absorption chillers
1972 – The Division’s first overseas manufacturing base is established, MAICO. Exports to Japan, Indonesia, Australia and other markets begin
1983 – Inverter air conditioners launched
1985 – Development of scroll compressors begins. This means high efficiency, low noise and low vibration
1985 – First GHP (gas heat pump) VRF air conditioner
1989 – World’s first simultaneous 3-pipe heating/cooling VRF system
1990 – World’s first air conditioner with compact scroll compressor is launched
1993 – Matsushita-Wanbao Air Conditioner, Compressor and Air Conditioner Engineering is established.
1993 – The first large-capacity modular combination VRF system is released
1995 – World’s first large-capacity modular combination VRF system with simultaneous heating/cooling is released.
1995 – The first large-capacity modular combination VRF system with simultaneous heating/cooling
2003 – EcoCute systems with energy-saving technology that is quiet, lightweight and compact is launched. Automatic filter-cleaning function for air conditioners (AC robot) is also launched.
2005 – Panasonic’s products become very successful in Japanese market. Innovations such as airstream robots an motion sensors further grow Panasonic’s market share
2006 – Global production of Panasonic compressors reaches 200 million units
2008 – Air-to-water heat pump business in Europe starts. Hot water heating as alternative to conventional fuel-type heating systems. Panasonic air conditioners win Chairman’s award at the Energy Conservation Grand Prize awards. EcoCute wins Director General prize.
2009 – European sales company (PHAAE) is established and dedicated to selling air conditioners.
2010 – Collaborations with SANYO air conditioners begins. SANYO and Panasonic Electric Works become a wholly owned subsidiary
2011 – FSV series of large-capacity air conditioners are launched
2012 – New Panasonic Group inaugurated
2013 – VRF operation in Malaysia is expanded.
